You may want to order Microsoft’s CD. Visit www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2 and click the link that says Order the CD. The CD is free, but you pay shipping. It installs SP2.

If you know someone or somewhere that has DSL you can download the updates there and install them on your pc. On your pc at home go to www.windowsupdate.com and let it bring up the list of the updates you need. Print off this list list, take it with you to the faster DSL pc, and go to support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=323166. Follow the instructions and links there to download your updates from the Windows Update Catalog. Then take the update files home and install them. When finished, check back at www.windowsupdate.com to see if more updates are needed. This may take a few times going back and forth , but it’s the fastest way to update a pc thats on dial-up.
